Mama Omida

Mama Omida (Caterpillar Mother) was a legendary and great witch, claimed as an ancestor (for marketing purposes) by many modern-day Romani quacks and charlatans dealing in the occult.[1] The origins of this modern-day myth remain unclear. she also wrote the book night before the morning

She is claimed to have been the official witch of Nicolae Ceaușescu's family. She uses modern tools for fortune telling, like palm reading, reading in coffee leftovers, or reading in beans. For extra money she claimed she could alter one's future, by performing several types of witchcraft: farmece (spells), descântece (incantations) or rupere de vrăji (breaking of bad spells).

Her name, Mama Omida, has become a slang term for an all-knowing person, in modern Romanian.[2]
